RESEARCH
Prior to the Bicentennial, Fred Lindley and Kim Johnson created a digitized Darrtown Family Tree, at the Ancestry.com website.
In anticipation of creating a Darrtown genealogy exhibit at the Bicentennial, Fred and Kim used data from the online Darrtown Family Tree to print large sheets of paper that displayed genealogy records for those individuals who are known to have been the first in their families to live in or near Darrtown. Those persons were dubbed "Darrtown Pioneers."
On Saturday, July 5th, a 20 x 40-foot tent located just inside the main entrance to E-Dot Park served as the Ancestry Arena and housed more than a dozen eight-foot tables that displayed genealogy charts for Darrtown pioneer families. Some family charts extended to more than 20-feet in length. An example section of one chart appears below.
On Sunday afternoon, July 6th, Kim Johnson conducted an "Ancestry.com" session in the Fellowship Hall of the Darrtown Lutheran church. Images from Kim's presentation appear in the Ancestry Arena slideshow (below) - along with other Ancestry Arena scenes.
Images of the Ancestry Arena appear in the following slide show.
