"Fairhaven pike" refers to Ohio St. Rt. 177, which is the road that connects Hamilton, Ohio and Richmond, Indiana. The pike passes through the village of Fairhaven, Ohio, which is about 15 miles north of Darrtown. The writer of this article could have said the "Darrtown pike," as it is known locally.

There is a bridge on the Darrtown pike that crosses the Four Mile Creek, "about a mile below Darrtown."
