  1899 - Dr. Shaffer is mentioned as being "of Darrtown"

This news item, which is an excerpt from the "Darrtown News" section of a 1902 newspaper, confirms the presence of Dr. C. A. Shaffer in Darrtown.

  1902 - Dr. C. A. Shaffer sold his Darrtown medical practice to Dr. Cowen  

Documents posted below provide evidence that a Doctor Shaffer practiced medicine in Darrtown from the late 1800s into the early 1900s.

As noted below, research continues, in an effort to confirm the first name of Dr. Shaffer.

Some contradictory information about Dr. Shaffer's first name and/or initials is posted below.

Both links provide info that coincides with Dr. C. A. Shaffer's eraa (1890s-1900s) and area (Butler County, Ohio).  

  As of January 2023, Dr. Shaffer's first name REMAINS UNCONFIRMED  

HOWEVER...

The History section of this website includes a reproduction of a 1924 news article that addresses some of the first residents of Darrtown and vicinity. That article includes the following excerpt, which mentions  a "Dr. C. R. Shaffer."

This 1924 news item (above) states that Dr. A. B. Wilkie succeeded Dr. Shaffer.

To the contrary, the 1902 news item, (see the second posted item on this page) states that Dr. Cowen succeeded Dr. Shaffer.

Also, both items refer to a Dr. "Will" Shaffer and one mentions his brother "Cliff."
