Information about the early years of the Fisherman Press has been found and uploaded to the website.

Beginning as an idea in the mind of an Oxford man, the business flourished, while located in Darrtown's former high school building.

It was late April 1901 and a group of gypsy families gathered at a campground near Darrtown to celebrated the coronation of a new queen - according to two newspaper accounts.

he Mothers' Club of Darrtown began a project in April of 1925 that was designed to help community members with medical needs - at no cost to those in need of assistance.

Described as a "loan closet," the club members contributed time and money to establish a place where community members could acquire free medical supplies.

The number of drugstores in Butler County in April 1925 was part of a newspaper article about a “Loan Closet” being created in Darrtown. The next item (below, in this newsletter) provides background info about this benevolent act of the Darrtown Mothers’ Club.

...the Darrtown newsletter included a story about an airport that was planned for construction north of Darrtown.

The plan fell through - perhaps because it was introduced, just before the onset of the Great Depression.

Dr. John McMechan has been added to the list of physicians that once served Darrtown.

This website has previously reported the search for gas fields at Darrtown.

Recently found newspaper articles have more than doubled the amount of information now available.

SEVEN newspaper articles that describe the pursuit of natural gas at five confirmed locations around Darrtown now appear on the LaDarr Gas & Oil Company web page. A MAP OF THE FIVE LOCATIONS is included.

There is an eighth newspaper item that describes an 1894 "social gathering" near Darrtown's "gas springs."

Conrad Darr founded Darrtown on the FOURTH day of the FOURTH month in 1814

and includes this SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!

APRIL 17, 1869: Charles Otto became the owner of the Hitching Post saloon.

APRIL 17, 1930: Darrtown area woman died in a Darrtown Pike house fire, north of Davis Corner.
