NOVEMBER 22, 1923: Johnny Darr (the last member of the Darr family to live in Darrtown) was hit by an auto, while crossing Darrtown's Main Steet. Johnny Darr subsequently died in the hospital.
NOVEMBER 24, 1941: The Darrtown Telephone Company was reported to have been purchased by the Oxford Standard Telephone company.
NOVEMBER 24, 1953: Walter Alston was named manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers

A 1951 letter from Goldfield, Nevada to Darrtown, Ohio
A recently found 72-year-old letter reveals a relationship between a Nevada prospector (who once lived in Darrtown) and local businessman, Luther McVicker. To see the letter that O.T. Brincefield sent to Luther, which included a special "Decoration Day" request, visit: 1951 letter.
In 1936, telephones were new and phone numbers were small.

... in case you are unaware, during the first four decades of the 20th century, the citizens of Darrtown and vicinity were provided telephone service by the Darrtown Telephone Company.

A 1926 news story reported a barn fire on the James Lacky farm - "formerly the Alva Harris farm."
Presumably, the Lacky / Harris farm was located in the Darrtown community, as the fire was reported in the "Darrtown news" section of the local newspaper.
If you can have information about the location of the Lacky/Harris farm,please inform the webmaster.
There once was an orchard business on Rt. 177, just north of Harris Rd?
Known for years as the Pfaff family orchard, it became the Owens orchard in 1959, when Lewis & Adelene (Owens) Custer took over. In 1961, Garland and Gladys Owens assumed ownership. Their son, Frank Owens, and his wife, Maxine ran the business from 1974 to December 2001, when it closed.
