Contrary to many labor-management relationships today, Mr. Miller was the superintendent of the Darrtown schools, when he organized this union of teachers.

You may recall reading that Darrtown's L.A. Miller started a Butler County teachers' union in 1901. A second source has surfaced with a similar story.

THE DOWD FAMILY

Rick and Melinda Dowd and their daughters, Emily and Lauren, moved to Darrtown in 1993.

A Dowd family page now appears on the Darrtown website and the Dowd family is now a part of the Darrtown Family Tree at Ancestry.com.

Click the following link to see how the restoration process was initiated (and financed) and how the cleaning and painting of the M60 tank was performed by members of the Iron Horse Tankers, a non-profit tank restoration organization.

See the details of the restoration process at the Militia/Tank section.

The Dowd page, referenced above, was added after Rick Dowd responded to an item in the September 16th newsletter that urged residents of Darrtown and vicinity to share their family's history on the Darrtown website.

To start the process of adding your family's history to the Darrtown webpage and the Darrtown Family Tree, complete and submit the form at the right.

The new section describes the refurbishment of the commemorative tank that sits in Darrtown's village square.

A tip of the hat - to Bob Ratterman!

A nod of appreciation is offered to Mr. Robert Ratterman ... upon his retirement from writing stories for the Oxford Press and the Hamilton Journal News...for the past 50 years!

Bob wrote many favorable stories that helped promote Darrtown events. His way with words will be missed.
