FAMILIES D-H: DOWD ~ Richard Dowd and Melinda Dowd
Rick and Melinda Dowd have been designated as "Darrtown Pioneers," as they are believed to be the first Dowd family members to live in Darrtown, along with their daughters, Lauren Katherine Dowd and Emily Kristin Dowd.

Rick Dowd has TIES TO BUTLER COUNTY that predate 1993, when Rick and his family members moved to Darrtown.
1. Rick Dowd’s mother was Marion (Smith) Dowd.
2. Marion Smith was the daughter of Charles Smith and Ruth (Imhoff) Smith.
3. Ruth Imhoff was a daughter of Paul Imhoff.
4. Paul Imhoff was a brother named Stanley Imhoff.
5. Stanley Imhoff was Ruth (Imhoff) Smith’s uncle and Stanley Imhoff had a son named Roy Imhoff. Consequently, Roy Imhoff and Ruth (Imhoff) Smith were first cousins.
6. Roy Imhoff operated a farm in Milford Township In the 1940s and 50s. The farm was located on the north side of St. Rt. 73 (across the road from the present Monkeyland property).
7., 8., and 9. - Roy Imhoff and his wife Marie (Stang) Imhoff had three sons: Robert, James, and Gerald. Along with others who attended Collinsville School during the 1940s and 1950s, the Darrtown webmaster remembers the three Imhoff boys.
Rick grew up with his parents on Gardner Road in Hanover Township. He graduated from Talawanda High School in 19xx. Rick's father, Ralph Dowd, was a native of Reily Township.
