…reveals the middle name of Carlisle’s mother to be Florence. Up to this point, Emma F. Wolfe's middle name had not appeared in any discovered records.
…WWII draft card carries this notation: “Scar on right leg between knee and ankle.” This is, presumably, the result of an accident that Carlisle experienced upon falling from a school bus.
…1920 Census Report for Carlisle Wolfe shows a street address that does not exist in Hamilton, Ohio. The handwritten version, seen in the link at the left, shows the street name to be HENSLEY Avenue.
FAMILIES V-Z: WOLFE ~ Albert
Albert R. Wolfe (1877-1965) and Ella F. (Bonner) Wolfe (1878-1975) are designated as Darrtown Pioneers, as they appear to be the first and oldest Wolfe family members to have lived in Darrtown
As of January 2024, no record has been found to verify the exact year that Albert and Ella Wolfe moved to Darrtown.
RIGHT: This image of the Darrtown school's 1925-26 first grade class, includes a student named Carlisle Wolfe.
From this photo (and other records presented below), it seems reasonable to conclude that the Carlisle Wolfe seen in this image is the son of Albert and Ella Wolfe and that the the Albert Wolfe family moved to Darrtown between 1920 and 1925.
The 1920 U.S. Census (below) shows the Albert Wolfe family living in Hamilton, Ohio.

…WWII military draft card show some physical descriptors and mentions a “felon scar on second finger left hand.” Finger felons are described as subcutaneous abscesses of the fingertip pulp. The cause of a felon finger is often a cut or scrape that allowed bacteria to form. This military registration, dated April 26, 1942, occurred in Room 213 of the Hamilton, Ohio Y.M.C.A.
…World War II draft card shows that he lived in Milford Township (the RR2 address reflects that mail was delivered from Oxford, as Darrtown no longer had a post office). The date of registration was April 26, 1942 (verified at the bottom of the back of the card) and notice that Albert did NOT have a telephone. He was born Sept. 11, 1887 in Williamstown (Grant County), Kentucky. Albert’s wife, Ella, was born in the same state and county. The Estate Stove Company, on East Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio, is listed as Albert’s employer. Albert was 64 YEARS OLD, at the time of this required military draft registration.
…Carlisle Wolfe no longer lived with his parents, as the only household members listed are Albert and Ella. Again, living in southeast Hamilton, Albert, at age 72, is still working … as a sheet metal worker.
…the Wolfe family now lived in Milford Township … and Darrtown - to be more specific. This is confirmed by the “neighbors” link at the left - which shows the names of people known to be Darrtown residents and who were Wolfe family neighbors.
…that Albert and Ella lived in the 5th ward of Hamilton, Ohio on “South Lomley” Ave. No such street is known to exist, in Hamilton. A review of the handwritten 1920 census report (see copy in Carlisle’s section below) shows the Wolfe family living on HENSLEY Avenue. At this time, Albert still worked in the stove industry. There was a new family member, as a son, Carlisle, was listed as a household member.
…by 1910, Albert, listed in the census, as “Ross A. Wolfe,” was married and living with his wife Ella, in the fifth ward of Hamilton, Ohio. The fifth ward is located in southeast Hamilton. Albert’s industry is listed as “stove shop.” Future census reports will show that Albert worked at the Estates Stove Company of Hamilton, Ohio.
…information for Albert, when he was three years old. Albert’s parents were Joseph and Anna and his brother, Pearse, was two years older. The family lived in Oxford (whether city or township is unclear).
