1930 Road Atlas found among Eva's belongings

Notice the price of the Atlas listed on the cover page; the absence of Alaska and Hawaii on the Table of Contents page; and the absence of interstate highways on the Ohio page.

LEFT: This photo of an unknown man was among Eva Ditman's possessions. He resembles the man standing in the "Three siblings" photo above. Thus, this might be a photo of William T. Ditman

MEMBERS OF THE DITMAN, HOOK, and HOOKER FAMILIES

The image at the right was found among Eva Ditman's files. It illustrates a connection between the Ditman family, the Hook family, and the Hooker family.

In his letters to Mary Eva Polster, before they were married, Josephus mentioned that, on two occasions, that he had seen Harry Hook (once in Darrtown and once on Joe's farm). To see Joe's references to Harry, read the 12/1 and 12/9 excerpts at the "Letter excerpts" link below.

James Ditman, great-grandson, of Josephus Ditman identified the people in this photo and provided extra information.

JOSEPHUS DITMAN AND THE 1893 WORLD'S FAIR IN CHICAGO

James Ditman contributed the three images that appear below. He found them among the materials that Eva preserved.

Eva's notes, written on the inside cover of the booklet, report that Josephus spent a week at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago, Illinois - visiting with Ralph Harper and a Mrs. Ireland, who was the mother of Jennie Harper - who married one of the publishers of Harper's Magazine.

27 MILLION, 300 THOUSAND people visited the six-month World's Fair that ran from the first of May to the end of October in 1893. Staged in Jackson Park on the south side of Chicago, the exhibit encompassed 690 acres.
