Records place the Matthew Richardson family at Collinsville, Ohio - which is five miles east of Darrtown. There is no evidence (as of April 2023) that this Matthew Richardson lived in Darrtown.
However ... there is a HISTORICAL CONNECTION between Darrtown and Matthew Richardson, as the name "Matth. Richardson" appears on the original plat that Conrad Darr filed with the Butler County court on April 4, 1814.

RIGHT - This is a reproduction of a letter that Matthew Richardson wrote to his nephew ( ______ Stockton), in response to the nephew's quest to learn more about his aunt - Ann Stockton - Matthew's wife.
This letter is dated August 22, 1834, about four years before Matthew's death, in 1838.
This letter poses a puzzle, because Matthew refers to ten children born to his union with Ann (Stockton) Richardson; whereas records at Ancestry.com indicate that the couple had nine children (see the famly tree image above).

Matthew Richardson (1757-1838) headstone located
The Gillespie farm is part of the land once owned by Matthew Richardson.
As shown on the 1836 map that is replicated at the right, the original Richardson property appears to extend eastward - from the Gillespie's current homestead (in township section 23) to the Seven Mile Creek (in township section 24).
Paul and Marlene Gillespie also reported that they rent a field adjacent to their farm for cattle pasture. The rented field contains a Matthew Richardson headstone that is shown in the following three photos.
Marlene described the gravestone area in the following manner: "No other stones are still standing. His stone is in the middle of a wooded pasture. It is not located on land we own. It is a rough ride on the Gator to get there. We rent the pasture, so maybe we can go once the cattle are moved to that location."
The name "Matthew Richardson" appears in multiple generations in Butler County (Ohio) history. More research may reveal how they are related. For the time being, the following news articles are being shared as two examples of how the Matthew Richardson name has survived.
