Linda (Reis) Newman
John Newman and his wife Linda (Reis) Newman are Darrtown pioneers, as they are, according to available records, the first known members of the Newman family to live in the Darrtown community.
Married in May of 1998, John and Linda moved to their Darrtown residence, which is the first house north of the Lutheran Church, in November 2003. Previously, the Newmans had lived in the Lindenwald section of Hamilton, Ohio.
John and Linda found Darrtown, when they began looking for a larger house. John said he does not recall ever being in Darrtown, prior to meeting with a realtor to tour the Darrtown property - a house that would become the Newman's new home. John recalls that he immediately liked the "feel of the town."
John Newman, born in 1961, first lived in Mariemont, Ohio, with his parents, John H. Newman II and Ruth Ann (Dumford) Newman.
John graduated from Glen Este High School in 1979 and studied at RETS radio ET. He joined the United States Air Force in May, 1981. After four years of service, John was honorably discharged in May of 1985.
After spending 15 years in the field of electronics and communication, John transitioned to working as an accountant in 1993 and became a controller with Quasonix.
The information that appears below was acquired during a phone conversation with John Newman in early June 2021.
In 2014, John got involved in the Darrtown Bicentennial project. He helped set up various exhibits in E-Dot Park and assisted with the village parade.
In 2015, John assumed the role of Treasurer for the annual Darrtown Reunion, a position that he currently holds.
In 2020, John agreed to serve as the manager of the paver project in the village square. John has a particular interest in the military section of the park, as he is a military veteran and is the Adjutant of AMVETS Post 1983, in Hamilton, Ohio.
