Guy Dynes is designated as a "Darrtown Pioneer," as he is believed to be the first Dynes family member to live in Darrtown. Documents (posted below) confirm that Guy and Mary and their five-year-old twins, Keith and Katherine, moved to Darrtown in 1926.

A 1924 newspaper clipping confirms that, prior to moving to Darrtown (in 1926), the Dynes family lived somewhere east of Somerville, Ohio, near Gratis, in Preble County.

A 1925 Rabbitsburg news item refers to the Dynes family visiting in Camden and Valley View, Ohio. All three places are located in southern Preble County.

Two February 1926 newspaper clippings cite an auction at the Dynes farm on Old Trace Road, which runs north-south through Preble County, Ohio.

In 1941, at the age of 53, Guy Dynes registered for the military draft - as U.S. law required of all men ages 18 to 65 years of age. See background info at WWII military draft.

In these reports, Guy Dynes' residence is listed as "Milford." This refers to Milford TOWNSHIP, in Butler County, Ohio ... not Milford city - in Hamilton County, Ohio.

One month after Guy's February farm auction, a March 1926 newspaper clipping reported that Guy Dynes bought a lot in Darrtown, from William Bufler.

By August 1926, the Guy Dynes' home was under construction.

Dynes, Guy: (1890-1964) Darrtown resident. The following obituary appeared in the Hamilton Journal: "Mr. Dynes was born February 15, 1890 in Indiana. His family moved to the Darrtown area when Guy was 16. Mr. Dynes married Mary Bufler on February 19, 1914. He farmed for a time, but worked most of his life as a carpenter. He retired in 1955. Mr. Dynes was survived by his wife, Mary Dynes; a son, Keith, also of Darrtown; a daughter, Mrs. Kathryn O’Leary of Baltimore, Maryland; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; and brother, John of Indianapolis, Indiana."

Dynes, Mary (Bufler): (1894-1970) Darrtown resident. The following obituary appeared in the Hamilton Journal: "Mrs. Dynes was born January 20, 1894, a daughter of Frank and Ella (Leonard) Bufler. She married Guy Dynes in 1914 and they made their home on a farm in Somerville. Later, they moved to Darrtown; Mrs. Dynes was a Darrtown resident for 45 years. She was survived by one son, Keith; one daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Wilson of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Mrs. Stanley Alston, Darrtown and Mrs. Clyde Wagonfield, Darrtown; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, Mrs. Stella Aebi, Mrs. Frances Weiss, and Mrs. Gertrude Grau."
