Information is posted after/beneath the eighth newsclipping (below) to support the probability that the Joseph Harris (1838-1913) from Darrtown wrote the Civil War diary that is quoted in the news article.

The following death notice for Joseph Harris was found at Ancestry.com
The date (Sept. 13, 1913), the location (Oxford, Ohio - five miles northwest of Darrtown), and the military assignment (75th regiment of Ohio) all lend credibilty to the likelihood that Joseph Harris of Darrtown was the author of the diary quoted in the newspaper article that appears above.

(1) a graphic that illustrates selected sections of the family lineage of Joseph Harris (1781-1841)
(2) a copy of a death notice related to a military pension for the widow of Joseph Harris (1781-1841)

In the following graphic, we can see that Joseph Harris (1838-1913) lived during the American Civil War era and was the grandson of Darrtown pioneer, Joseph Harris (1779-1841).
