BELOW: These two clippings confirm that the Collinsville Inn was operating in 1974 and owned by Memphis McGhee in January of 1977.

The first news clipping (and the image at the right) appeared in the August 7, 1968 edition of the Dayton Daily News. This article forecasts the demise of the Collinsville post office, which is referred to as an 80-year operation.

This narrative about the Collinsville (Ohio) post office COULD BE part of this website's Post Office section.

The second news clipping appeared in the November 12, 1972 edition of the Journal News (Hamilton, Ohio). This item is a more hopeful story for Collinsville residents, as it reports that the Collinsville post office may be upgraded from fourth class to third class.

The 1972 story proves that the Collinsville post office continued operating four years beyond the dire prediction of the 1968 news story.

The title of this news item refers to a series of articles written about female postmasters in the Hamilton, Ohio area.

HOWEVER, the story of the Collinsville post office is included here (in the "Tavern History" section of the website), because, for many years, the Collinsville Post Office was housed inside the Collinsville Inn.

The Collinsville Post Office was, for several years, located in a back corner of the Collinsville Inn - as noted in two news articles below.
