Darrtown native, Steve Menke, contributed this story (and the accompaning photos).
Steve tells the tale of how Menke family members, with the cooperation of Harry Ogle, built an outhouse in Darrtown in 2021.
Built just for fun, this outhouse replica stands as a historical salute to all the outdoor toilets that dotted the landscape of Darrtown as recently as the 1950s.
Back in the day, (before indoor plumbing), there was a tradition in Darrtown related to Halloween and outhouses.
IF YOU (AND YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!) have a tale to tell about tipping over outhouses - especially in Darrtown - this is your chance to "fess up," about your deliquent ways as a youth. Jot down your confessional and send it to the Darrtown webmaster.
Young boys, with old men faces, telling tales.

Two more photos of the Ogle outhouse have surfaced.
These, taken July 18, 2021, were donated by Fred Lindley.
