I moved into the house we lived in Darrtown on Main Street when I was 3 years old.  The house had two big rooms and a kitchen and pantry.  My dad worked and made two bedrooms a living room and dining room and made a bathroom that was once a pantry off the kitchen.  I was told later that Mr. Bufler's brother originally built the house.  Dad later added an enclosed back porch onto the house.  Darrtown was pretty small at that time.

My God Parents owned the Hitching Post at that time and my Mom and Dad and my Mom's Mother and Father worked there.  I can say I grew up in the Hitching Post.  Red Huber bought the Hitching Post and Mom and Dad worked there until I left High School.

I remember the Christmas Parties that "Red" had for all of the kids around Darrtown.  I thought it was the most beautiful place, because he had it decorated so grand.  Walter "Smokey" Alston came to the parties and brought some of his baseball players with him.  He was manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers.

All the kids used to play in the lot across from Constable Kelly's home.  We rode our bicycles and played ball and got into trouble, I am sure.

I met Fred Feyh at the Hitching Post on my 13th birthday one Christmas and we dated until we got married in June 3, 1962.  We lived in the same house for two years and then moved to Oxford.  I miss living there and am glad that it hasn't grown too much.  It was a great place to grow up.  I could go on; but, I am sure you have many more people still writing to you.

Yours truly,

Myrna Uhl Feyh
