On March 16, 1955, the Dayton (Ohio) Journal Herald newspaper published the following article about the beginning of the Fisherman Magazine.

This 1955 article confirms that:

The Fisherman Press began in 1950 ("less than five years ago").

By 1955, the circulation had reached 200,000.

100,000 copies of a fisherman's handbook had been published.

150,000 copies of children's books had been published.

The need for larger press facilities led to the magazine being published in New York and advertising offices were set up in Manhatten.
